I need to signwrite onto precoloured lime render, are there any problems with using ordinary paints, or will I need to find something compatible.
oooooooooooo...er...dunno!
Is that like a distemper finish Pete?
from what I remember of signwriting an old distempered cellar wall- its permenantly chalky- and forever coming of as you touch it with the brush (like a really heavily pounced dusty surface-)
i was only doing a quick- "while your here can you just.." job- but if its permanent, I suppose you'd need to seal it somehow (like new plaster)
Maybe stabilising solution?

I don't think sealing it would be appropriate as the whole idea is that it is breathable.

If you use a PVA and water mix it should still be breathable shouldn't it?

no it will seal it and it will leave a slight shinney finish
