hmmm, hope this works...to many choices!
i'm John from British Columbia, Canada, signwriter, don't use computer in my work(did for 14 years...not since 2000... started signwriting in '63, No Life Like It! ya, both ways!

On a trip to UK in '03, met Sir Wayne Osborne..(well, that's what He called himself.. he introduced me to handover brushes, and we've corresponded ever since. My wife and i are going to the Wales Meet in August, i'm hoping, thru this Board, to become acquainted with others and hope to see at the Meet. We missed Scotland, a shame, but this one is for sure!

Well, time to go for a walk in the snow while it still lasts!

Cheers, John aka Big Top Johnny...Signwriters Without Workorders...promoting Paint as a means to World Peace.

Greeting Wayne & Milo! now i need to see how to post some pics, never got to it in letterville.

Wayne, was it Dave Smith that did the Gold workshop in Callander?? a Big S, was it not? Well, he's going to come to N. America this spring April/May, for 2 workshops 3 days per.
Wayne, i know you do a lot of gilding, how did it work out for you?(i'm beginning the process of convincing myself to get to the Boise workshop in May, even tho Wales in Aug. + lotta$$$!)

Hi John- Yes Dave did a small workshop with John Studden and John Jordon (God bless him) in Scotland ( the Cambells shortbread one)

The Big Victorian letter S- was a workshop I did with Dave down at his place in Torquay in July last year.

John- Whatever else you do...Get along to Daves US workshops- You won't regret it.

Nice work John. Keep em coming.

Those two of yours are great Wayne, seen the 'S' before , someone else had done the workshop as well i think. Must use the same.
Are they screen outlines or did you hand paint them. Lot of work.

Dave's done that workshop a few times since- Yes the backing up of the water gilding is screened, but the rest is hand done-including cutting the mask for the acid etch ( scarey one time only stuff)- all the colour work is finger and brush blended ( no airbrush required- sorry Pete

Dave is truely a master of his art and these workshops are well worth doing,
If you fancy a go -give him a shout at chapman_and_smith@btinternet.com
He's a lovely, lovely guy, warm welcoming and a great teacher.- His studio is worth a visit.
You can do a vrirtual tour at www.davesmithcollection.com- some great glass art there too. 8)
