Hello! Glad to be here! Can anyone tell me if a Master Pro Plotter is a good first time investment. Please share the good and the bad (hopefully there's none of that).....

Hey there! Welcome to Signoholics, Frances! I'm sorry but I know nothing about the plotter you mentioned although I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Welcome here Frances. As a newbie into this business you have, for sure, come to a great place to make things better. With referance to your posts referring to low end cutters, so long as you buy from a reputable importer or merchant supplier you should be okay. These machines are not without problems: mis-alignment; vinyl skipping etc, things not associated with main stream names. But if you have come here to follow the Signoholics code, you could possibly save yourself a fortune, by purchasing one of these machines for 2nd copy, mask cutting and odd hand cutting the bits it snaggs on. If you can live with all that, then these poor man's cutters can be what they are. A tool. If on the other hand your main stream work is going to be all vinyl & not mixed media, then I recommend not to follow this path and instead purchase a high end machine. I know this information isn't specific to your enquiry but hope it sheds some light on what can and what can not be done or used.
Cheers.

Thanks for your valuable insight Pete. I am not really a newbie to the craft. I'm employed with a busy sign company, consider myself skilled in production and definately have talent on the design end and am starting to ask myself "why am I not doing this for myself". I'm definately into mixed media and wish to embark on a few unique ideas of my own so I think buying that Master Pro plotter will probably be fine as I start to take on side jobs. I just don't wish to wind up with a piece of s*@t - if you know what I mean! I'll see if I get a couple more responses here first though. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the intelligent answer to my thread. Maybe I'll talk to you again soon. :) See ya...
