Hi, ive been looking around the forum for a while and thought its about time i said hello!
Im 20 and from the south west of England. Ive been pinstriping for about 6 months and trying some lettering for the past few weeks. Im currently sudying a foundation degree in graphic design(part time). But i`m desperate to start doing this kind of stuff for a living so if theres anyone around thats looking to take on a junior/apprentice for traditional sign making/custom paint please get intouch.
Anyways sorry for the boring ****....here some of the first work ive done. Any advise, C&C very much welcome!

Hi Neil, Welcome to Signoholics, 1st off its real cool to see young folk learning our ways, your work shows promise, a great resource would be the publication, Mike Stevens- Mastering Layout, SignCraft magazine is also a wealth of inspiration & there are lots of images & threads here, as you may have seen. Learning & utilising negative space, various borders & use of panels, use of cartoons & other graphics will fuel your work. Try using these methods, even use existing works as a basis & feel in your work, word of mouth will spread & you will make your mark. Hope this helps. Also you can now upgrade your profile as we have integrated it into the database so here's to you or everyone else in our fantastic industry.
:)
PS you can upload your own Avatar in user cp! haha.
Hi Neil,
Great start, your work is of a better standard than i've seen from some people who have been in the trade for years. Keep up the good work and good luck finding a job.

really! thanks a lot! ive read about an event in newbury this saturday hosted by pro-sign...i think its like a panel jam/open day thing....i was thinking of putting together a couple of pictures of my stuff and perhaps give them out to anyone i can get hold of thats looking to take take someone on. good idea or a bit pushy!?
Welcome Neil, I was looking at your stuff on pinhead lounge the other day, pretty cool dude. I've been lettering a year or two now and stripe a bit now and again. If you can get to that open day (but suspect it will be one of neil melliards courses) you would learn a lot. Keep stripin.
Just checked it out it is one of Neils courses if you want to check it out go to http://www.prosign1.co.uk/ and follow the link. apart from Neil there will also be Jon Leeson and Peter Anthony teaching, both top blokes who know their stuff, might even get their myself for a giggle.
Looks like Peter Anthony's doing lettering couses as well- A Top Bloke that Aussie- He's the man to teach that if anyone alive can!
