This is a picture I took a few years back in the "Shawlands" sunny part of lovely Glasgow Scotland......It's got everything in this picture...a very old wall job, typical PUB facia's for the UK complete with floral stewing out of the facade....carved gold leaf with glass facade....up top, routered or cast letters, gilded, a nice inset clock and notice the sign on the lower part of the corner of the building is curved! Also you have a mix of today's signage with digg printed banners and even a small car with vynull on it....The UK people here see this all the time, but to an American or Canuck, it's a rather unusual look for "just a bar"

this picture is a classic....the shadow really bugs me..don't like it..here is the charming bakery owner showing Stewart McLaren and I the wonderful spelling of ""FILLLLLLLED" for the sign!
This is in Calander Scotland, Stewart's hometown, lovely place in the Trossachs!

Glasgow Wildlife.....
Not many people know this but my right hand is actually longer than my left (as you can see here), also I like to use nail polish on my right only.....call me silly.

That is the worst bakery sign I ever seen, I think I would donate a classy decent sign to them just to see it removed, , I`m like you Mike, it is the shadow, guess the sign painter was just 3 feet tall ? hahah

I was there a year ago this week, my second trip.
Actually in some parts it looks very similar to Wesyern Pennsylvania.
(without the Rednecks)
My favorite places there are the cemeteries.

That was one cool place Jill !!!- (and my first LH meet)
Did you look at the bottom of those stones?
(quite often theres a few practice swings and odd carved letters at the very bottom (below the grass level-you'll see them sometimes where the ground has sunk away..or the stones have been moved or used in a path throu the churchyard)
Ahhh those ancient Saxon letterheads!

Yup, Wayne, those are usually the marks of the carver or the monument company.
We have them here too, but the cemeteries are just not as cool here.
You rarely see skulls or hourglasses on headstones here.
The Greyfriars Cemetery in Edinburgh is also incredible, I didn't take any digital pix there tho.
I also saw this strange sight at the Letterhead meet...did you?
I'd have never been able to tell that it was your first, you fit right in!
Love....Jill
