At the Diaz Mini Meet this past weekend, something really seemed to stand out in my mind, or my awareness. I've known this for years, but it really came home to me as I was working on panels at the meet. I feel so relaxed while lettering, pinstriping, creative painting, etc. There are many things I enjoy about lettering, but the feeling of being relaxed seemed more prominent last weekend. Hey, maybe it had something to do with the meet environment and the great hosts, but I've felt this way since the beginning. Lots of other things are enjoyable, too: like the freedom with layout, color coordination, the smell of lettering enamel, and the action of my favorite quill.
What do you folks enjoy about your work?

good post Parr of Peoria! I enjoy those same things, plus, putting what's rattling around in my skull to a panel is very rewarding....it took many years to get to this point, and I can't wait to keep painting to keep the fun rolling! Most of all, I am more satisfied with helping someone to become a better painter and all around sign person.....I know how much it made me feel when I was first coming up, so hey, returning the favor is very rewarding!!

The best part about signs is it uses just about every part of your brain and every skill you have under your belt. One project can have everything from design to carpentry to electrical to hand crafted beauty. This is a good challenge I needed to have in my life. There are only so many days you can ride a computer and keep any semblense of sanity.
The craft of lettering and srtiping is something that takes years to master and hours of practice. I cannot tell you how many alphabets I have painted on a piece of glass only to s****e it off the next day and do it again.
It's a love.
It's an Obsession.
It's what truely stimulates my mind nad hands.
I can't deny anything you guys have already said.
Heck-I even enjoy digging the post holes!
