View Full Version : Removing painted lettering
Just read Petes post about Mr Muscle-
I can vouch for that 101%-
I have had 3 vans- all highly signwritten( and 2nd and third coated some of them)- and stripped everyone in the method descibed.
3 for sale and 1..just because it was so easy and I fancied a change.
I've done a few customer vans this way too, as long as the paint on the vehicle is a nice factory or oven finish its no problem.
Hi Wayne.
Never tried Mr Muscle but fibreglass cleaner works great too. (acitone, not sure if you spell it like that ) but who cares.

Never used fibreglass cleaner Ian, is it ok on the background, is it quick at lfting the enamel, where do you get it? Auto shops same as panel wipe?. Ian sounds ok to me btw, but you cant change your user name once registered hence me stuck with my screen name Ian.
I used to use a acetone to clean my metal paint bench and knives with (when I had a free supply from a boatyard- I think they used it for fibreglass work somehow too)
Great for cleaning plastics and foam ( and etching them)
(..not so good on synthetic vehicle finishes)
That right Wayne, get mine from the boatyard now, but first got it when we used to order our fibreglass faced board from the people who made the sides for vehicle body builders, was great no joints and no paint flaking. boards 8' x 40' in one piece if you could handle them.
Acetons good on factory finish but i'd be careful if a motors had a repair.
I'll sign off as Ian in future Pete sure you'll all know me soon.
Will be getting me ugly mug on as well, when i work it out.
Regards Ian
